Fish of the week goes to Ken Zapanta of Mission Viejo with a 9lb 10oz trout jigging a chartruse / orange power mouse via float tube in the flats. Art Ng of Diamond Bar weighed in a 9lb 08oz trout that was caught still water nymphing a zebra midge in the flats off a boat. Fernando Brito of Stanton caught a 8lb 12oz trout that hit a Trout King jig/worm combo in chartruse and white via float tube in zone 3. Kirk Makishima of Arcadia nails another big fish weighing in at 8lbs 10oz’s fly fishing in the flats with a grey zebra midge. Dave Watanabe of Pasadena caught a 8lb 09oz trout soaking a yellow Trout King worm in Zone 3. Daryl Scherer of Huntington Beach weighed in a 8lb 08oz trout soaking white power bait off the shoreline in zone 1. Travis Bertrand of Huntington Beach caught an 8lb trout soaking an inflated night crawler in Zone 2 off the shoreline. Phillip Imamura of Cerritos caught an 8lb trout using white Berkley power worm in Zone 3. Chuck Doucot of Costa Mesa won the big fish honors at last Saturday’s ‘Bite on Bowl’ fishing Derby with an 8lb trout caught soaking chartruse power bait dipped in Bite on Garlic scent.
Heavy stockings of Trout every Tuesday and perfect weather conditions are making for great fishing at the lake. Trout continue to chew night crawlers and any color power bait dipped in Bite on Garlic scent. Trout continue smashing the crank baits with the ‘Mirror Shad’ working best. Fly fisherman continue to hammer fish in the flats using bead head midges in black and red patterns. Water temp is currently 56 degrees with 6 -8’ visibility.
